**Mechanism:**
Charge neutralization: Inorganic flocculants and cationic polymers adsorb onto negatively charged colloidal particles and suspended solids, neutralizing electrostatic repulsion and enabling initial micro-floc formation.
Polymer bridging: High-molecular-weight organic polymers (especially polyacrylamide) extend long molecular chains that simultaneously attach to multiple particles, creating strong mechanical bridges and rapidly forming large, dense flocs.
Sweep flocculation: Metal salts hydrolyze to form voluminous hydroxide precipitates (Al(OH)₃ or Fe(OH)₃) that physically enmesh fine particles, colloids and organic matter, sweeping them out of suspension as they settle.

Wastewater clarification: Used to remove suspended solids, turbidity, COD and color from municipal and industrial wastewater.
Sludge dewatering: Significantly improves thickening and mechanical dewatering of sewage sludge and industrial biosolids, reducing volume and disposal costs.
Drinking water purification: Removes turbidity, algae, organic matter and heavy metals in potable water production plants.
Mining and mineral processing: Clarifies process water, separates tailings and recovers valuable minerals in flotation and thickening operations.
**Main categories:**
