Coating and ink solvents
At identical wet film thickness and oven-drying conditions, compare leveling, drying window and residue.
Solvents for high-cleanliness processes
Set particulate, metal and nonvolatile residue criteria for the process. Count defects on the actual substrate.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. Eastman PM Acetate · Typical coating solvent properties ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Relative evaporation rate | Relative value | Eastman PM Acetate third-party typical value 0.39 | The reference is n-butyl acetate = 1. Use this for selection and agree a separate contract acceptance method. |
| Evaporation residue | mg/kg | Specify for the coating or electronics process. | Specify sample mass, evaporation conditions and the container blank. |
| Isomer composition | Area % or mass % | Confirm the PGMEA identity and grade. | Include the chromatographic method and isomer name. Do not apply another ether ester’s standard. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
Chemical identity
| Database entry | Molecular or composition formula | Molar mass |
|---|---|---|
| Propylene glycol methyl ether acetate | C6H12O3 | 132.16 g/mol |
The values refer to the compound indicated. Confirm hydrate form, solution concentration and blend composition for the commercial grade.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
Specify container and filtration requirements separately for general coatings and clean processes. Verify drum material for each application.
Storage and handling
Request lot number, closure details and the applicable SDS before shipping. For clean processes, agree sampling blanks and sample containers.
Sample and order lead times
State receiving tank capacity or required drum size, trial quantity and destination. Ask for sample carriage, commercial MOQ, packaging charge, availability and expected warehouse delivery date.
Questions from the plant
How should coating residue or particle defects be investigated?
Coat the intended substrate and compare filtration, drying history and the resulting surface defects.
Why do solvents with similar boiling points produce different films?
Compare compatibility and evaporation profiles in the actual formulation. Check isomers, non-volatile residue and drying conditions.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Isomer composition, Evaporation residue, metals and particulates.
Request documents for your application
