Degree of substitution (Dimensionless)
JECFA monograph identity range: 0.20–1.50.
01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Stabilization of acidic beverages

Hydrate fully at actual pH and salt concentration. Compare viscosity, settling and mouthfeel.

Dry premix feeding

At the actual premix ratio, disperse, sieve and weigh unhydrated particles. Record time to stable viscosity.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. ENVO · Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) product information ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Degree of substitution Dimensionless JECFA monograph identity range: 0.20–1.50. The range describes substance identity. Agree the target grade range and viscosity under specified conditions in the contract.
Viscosity under specified conditions mPa·s Request the grade-specific range Fix solution concentration, temperature, hydration time, instrument and rotational speed.
Moisture % by mass Agree for the specific grade Specify the water test, sampling and sealing conditions. Interpret water content and loss on drying separately.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

ENVO lists 25 kg bags. Confirm order-specific net weight, units per pallet and label revision.

Storage and handling

Check the viscosity grade and lot on the receiving label. Keep a sealed control after opening.

Sample and order lead times

State food category, sales market, pilot quantity and required arrival date. Confirm MOQ, batch documents, availability and remaining shelf life separately for samples and commercial orders.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Why do identical COA viscosity values give different suspension in a beverage?

Hydrate fully at actual pH and salt level. Compare viscosity, settling and mouthfeel.

Why does the screen block on scale-up when the bench sample is smooth?

Sieve samples at several times after addition using the same aperture. Distinguish poor initial wetting from excessive final viscosity.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Degree of substitution, viscosity test concentration and spindle, Moisture.
