Coatings and industrial solvents
Use the current resin and solvent system as a reference. Record compatibility, drying time and film appearance; include residue limits in the purchase specification where required.
Organic synthesis feedstock
Specify the reaction’s tolerances for water, free alcohols and acid. List separately any impurities affecting yield or downstream purification.
Electrolyte solvent assessment
Request moisture, acidic impurity and specified trace-metal data for each candidate grade. Confirm commercial availability and batch size separately.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
The Sigma-Aldrich 809942 data illustrate how to compare battery-grade properties. These figures apply to that third-party grade. Request the specification for the material ENVO proposes to supply. Sigma-Aldrich 809942 · Battery-grade product specification example ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Principal component purity | % | third-party example ≥ 99.9% | Check the method. If GC area normalisation is used, review an independent water result. |
| Moisture | ppm | Third-party example: 10 ppm level. | Confirm the limit, sampling procedure and Karl Fischer method, and record the interval between sampling and testing. |
| Acidic impurities | ppm | Third-party example: 10 ppm level. | State the reference acid used for calculation and the test method before comparing certificates. |
| Methanol and specified metals | mg/kg | Agree each item for the intended use. | List individual analytes, methods and quantification limits. State the method limit for any result reported as not detected. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and seals
Define the container, seal material, unit net weight and discharge connection for samples and bulk goods. For moisture-sensitive materials, agree container dryness, sealing and sampling before quotation.
Transport and receiving
DMC is a flammable liquid. The ICSC lists UN 1161, Class 3, Packing Group II. Before booking, check the actual cargo, route and carrier requirements against section 14 of the current SDS.
Minimum order and delivery
State destination, unloading facilities, initial quantity and target delivery date. Confirm sample carriage, commercial MOQ, dangerous goods booking deadline, dispatch date, expected port arrival and retest date.
Questions from the plant
Is passing the purity specification enough to start an electrolyte trial?
Review separate results for water, acidity and specified metals. Verify sample containers, methods and quantification limits before following the approved laboratory procedure.
Why might incoming moisture exceed the supplier’s COA result?
Reconcile lot, seal, sampling time and method. Have qualified personnel compare retained and receipt samples, documenting containers and transfers.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Provide the order number, drum or seal number, supplier COA, receiving sample record and retest method.
Request documents for your application
TDS · Technical data sheet
For grade selection and sample approval, specify the grade and revision required.
SDS · Safety data sheet
Specify the country or region of use and the required language.
COA · Certificate of analysis
Request a sample COA during supplier review. For incoming inspection, provide the actual lot number.
