Mineral phosphorus, calcium and electrolytes / ENVO-A095

Feed-grade sodium chloride

Application grade · CAS 7647-14-5

For feed salt, calculate sodium and chloride separately. Check iodine, anticaking agents and how particle grade affects distribution after mixing.

Feed-grade sodium chloride · PubChem chemical identity reference. Confirm commercial form, composition and application grade separately.

01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Electrolytes in compound feed

Recalculate all sodium and chloride sources. Check uniformity in the finished blend.

Mineral premixing

Using the target carrier, evaluate salt segregation after vibration and behavior on discharge.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Review these properties for the intended application grade. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. EU Catalogue of Feed Materials · Mineral feed material identities ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Sodium chloride assay % by mass Confirm for the proposed grade and project Request assay on an as-received or dry basis. Specify the analytical method and purity conversion basis.
Chloride ion % by mass Confirm for the proposed grade and project Request the measured Cl⁻ result and method. Calculate chloride from source water and other raw materials separately.
Particle size µm / % sieve residue Confirm for the proposed grade and project Report sieve apertures and percentage passing. Make a composite sample from different bag positions and distinguish lumps from primary particles.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

Mark iodisation and anticaking status. Confirm powdered or granular salt, liner and seal.

Storage and handling

Check for moisture, adherence to container walls and caking. Sample separately at the start and end of unloading.

Sample and order lead times

State premix or pelleting trial size, replenishment quantity and receiving warehouse. Confirm MOQ, preparation time and plant arrival separately for samples, pallets and split orders.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Can iodised salt share a specification with ordinary salt?

Check the iodine source, inclusion and anticaking agents before assessing formulation suitability.

Can a chloride result establish all sodium present?

Conversion requires known composition and impurities. Determine sodium and chloride separately in mixed feed.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Sodium chloride assay, Chloride ion, Particle size.
