Iron supply for alkaline root zones
Screen iron chelates at actual project pH, water quality and growing medium. Compare stability in the feed solution.
Comparing EDDHA grades
At equal total iron, compare iron chelated by the ortho-ortho isomer and the cost per kilogram of that fraction.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. Yara greenhouse nutrient solution guide · Third-party Q48 iron and ligand data ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Iron chelated by the ortho-ortho isomer | Mass fraction as Fe | Third-party Nouryon Q48 example: 4.8%, with 6.0% total iron. | Confirm that the percentage denominator is the mass of the commercial product. Use the same method for comparisons. |
| Total iron | Mass fraction as Fe | Third-party Nouryon Q48 grade example: 6.0%. | Also check soluble iron, chelated iron and the ortho-ortho fraction. |
| Ligand and isomers | Component identity and proportions | Confirm for the EDDHA grade specified in the contract. | Report the separation method, individual components and calculation basis. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
Check total iron, ligand and ortho-ortho declaration on the label. Agree granule or powder form and moisture-barrier packaging.
Storage and handling
Request a lot-specific isomer report. Record light protection, container and stock solution storage time for retained samples.
Sample and order lead times
State trial use, application season and latest warehouse receipt. Confirm MOQ, dispatch point and expected arrival for samples, initial orders and peak-season replenishment.
Questions from the plant
Why do products with the same nominal iron content vary so much in price?
Compare active fractions and application trials under the intended soil and irrigation-water conditions.
How can two “6% iron” offers be compared?
Separate total iron, chelated iron and iron bound to ortho-ortho EDDHA, each as a product mass fraction. The ligand isomer percentage is a different denominator.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check total and chelated iron, ortho-ortho isomer, ligand assay method.
