01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Waterborne paint preparation

At fixed shear and standing time, compare foam height, density and film cratering.

Roll or dip coating

Prepare panels at actual line speed and inspect for microbubbles, pinholes and surface gloss.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Use these properties to compare grades within the product family. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. Evonik TEGO Foamex 825 · Defoamer emulsion ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Defoaming rate s Agree for the grade and end use Record the time for the foam layer to reach the specified height.
Active matter or solids % by mass Agree for the grade and end use Identify the emulsion or concentrate form.
Film defects count per specified area Agree for the grade and end use Count under the same lighting and at the same wet film thickness.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

Distinguish emulsion and oil grades. Confirm net weight and whether gentle homogenisation is required.

Storage and handling

For emulsions specify temperature range and freeze-thaw requirements. Use the same addition point for sample and commercial trials.

Sample and order lead times

Compare quotations by active matter, as-supplied net weight and packaging. State destination and receiving facilities and request MOQ, sample dispatch and commercial arrival dates.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Why did craters appear after foam was reduced?

Trial a lower dose and a different addition stage. Recheck compatibility in the same base.

Why do pinholes appear on line when a standing beaker shows no foam?

Add a high-shear circulation or simulated roller trial. Compare release of fine bubbles.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Defoaming rate, Active matter or solids, Film defects.
