01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Industrial pH buffering

Use actual process water to compare dissolution time, clarity and buffering.

Powder formulation or feeding

Use production-representative screens and flow rates to assess fines, lumps and bulk density.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. WE Soda · Coarse industrial sodium bicarbonate: typical sieve retention and properties ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Particle size distribution µm or % sieve residue WE Soda coarse industrial grade: typical cumulative retention on a 150 µm sieve, 50–100%. State the sieving method. Industrial-grade documents cannot release material for food use.
Sodium bicarbonate assay Mass fraction Agree for the intended industrial grade. Confirm whether the result is on a dry basis and distinguish measured from typical values.
Loss on drying Mass fraction Agree on the grade and test method. Use the same temperature, duration and pretreatment when comparing heat-treated samples.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

Confirm moisture-barrier liner, particle grade, bag net weight and load capacity at the bag-opening station.

Storage and handling

Record caking distribution and seal condition. For continuous feeding, agree where retained sieve samples will be taken.

Sample and order lead times

State the concentration or hydrate, initial net quantity, destination and unloading method. Confirm minimum order, pallet or truckload quantity, dispatch point and arrival date separately.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Why does a bulk bag clump when a bench sample dissolves readily?

Compare dissolution time at the actual water temperature. Check dust, packaging and moisture protection.

Does changing milling grade require requalification at the same assay?

Compare sieve residue and feed uniformity, then repeat dissolution testing at the specified water temperature.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Sieve residue, Assay, Loss on drying.
