Drip fertigation formulation
Dissolve at target water temperature. Filter and weigh the residue and inspect for precipitation after cooling.
Foliar fertilizer ingredient screening
Check biuret against the intended crop and application method. Have the agronomy team review the formulation.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Review these properties for the intended application grade. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. University of Minnesota Extension · Fertilizer urea and biuret ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amide nitrogen | % by mass | University of Minnesota urea reference: approximately 46% N. | Give separate values for total, nitrate, ammonium or amide nitrogen as applicable. Use a common as-received basis. |
| Biuret | % by mass | Confirm for the proposed grade and project | Agree the limit for the target crop and root or foliar application. Use a method distinct from urea nitrogen analysis. |
| Water-insoluble matter | % by mass | Confirm for the proposed grade and project | Agree water temperature, sample-to-water ratio, filter medium and the drying and weighing procedure. Test compatibility separately with site water. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
Distinguish uncoated and surface-treated grades on the label. Confirm unloading for sacks and bulk bags.
Storage and handling
Protect against moisture-related caking. Following transport, recheck filtration in actual preparation water.
Sample and order lead times
State trial use, application season and latest warehouse receipt. Confirm MOQ, dispatch point and expected arrival for samples, initial orders and peak-season replenishment.
Questions from the plant
Why do two urea grades with equal total nitrogen behave differently in drip irrigation?
Check coatings and anticaking treatment. Compare filter residue at the actual water temperature.
Can one biuret limit apply to all uses?
Check requirements separately for foliar, root-zone and soil applications, the crop and the finished product.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Amide nitrogen, Biuret, Water-insoluble matter.
