Does one kilogram of each hydrate supply the same magnesium?

The two hydrates contain different magnesium masses per kilogram of product. Caking may affect feeding but does not itself prove loss of elemental magnesium.

Normalize hydrate comparisons to elemental magnesium

Identify whether the COA expresses Mg or MgO and calculate actual magnesium on the same basis. Test filtration at the actual stock concentration and water temperature, then evaluate metering flow separately.

Calculating cost per kilogram of elemental magnesium

At 10% elemental magnesium on a common analytical basis, one tonne delivers 100 kg magnesium. A quote of CNY 1,500 per tonne therefore corresponds to CNY 15 per kilogram of elemental magnesium. Normalize hydrate reports to the same basis before comparison.

Does caking at dispatch establish a loss of effective magnesium?

Distinguish crystal changes from absorbed moisture. Verify hydrate form, assay and dissolution. Magnesium and sulfur nutrient solutions: Use the target water. At equal magnesium, compare sulfur addition and dissolution time for different hydrates. Compatibility with calcium fertilizers: Check compatibility at both concentrated stock and final dilution strength.

Checking Water-soluble magnesium and Hydration state

Water-soluble magnesium (% by mass): Distinguish Mg from MgO. State the analytical basis, hydration state and commercial form. Hydration state (Identity and moisture (%)): Specify the precise hydrate and analytical basis. Apply limits for the relevant salt form only. Sulfur (% by mass): Identify S or SO₃, and water-soluble or total content, before calculating actual sulphur applied.
