Comparing lysine hydrochloride and sulfate on cost per unit of available lysine

Set up the comparison

Use delivered cost per kilogram of active lysine. For a price per tonne, divide by 1,000 times the as-received mass fraction of active L-lysine. Review carriers and other constituents separately.

Measurements to record

Hydrochloride salt purity (Dry-basis mass fraction). The application dossier is an example. Verify the actual grade at the time of supply. L-Lysine (Mass fraction). Report separately from hydrochloride purity and confirm the conversion basis. Record the sample ID and method revision for repeat testing.

Interpreting the results

Distinguish lysine hydrochloride purity from lysine expressed as free base. Confirm dry or as-received basis before costing or formulating.
