Why does the warp sheet stick after a solids increase?
Supplied solids alone cannot predict behavior at yarn separation. Actual add-on and drying conditions can both affect blocking.
Relate moisture regain after drying to yarn separation
Compare both sizes on the same yarn, keeping neat and cooked size samples. Fix size pickup and record moisture regain after drying, separation behavior and film integrity.
Did particles originate in the raw material or during size preparation?
Compare neat product with the mixed size. Record pH, water hardness and thermal history. Reinforcing synthetic warp yarn: Test size-film adhesion, abrasion resistance and ease of splitting the sized warp. Combined sizing formulations: Fix the active solids ratio and bath temperature. Monitor size-bath viscosity and residual size after desizing.
Checking Solids content and Sizing bath viscosity
Solids content (% by mass): State drying conditions and the reporting basis for the commercial product. Sizing bath viscosity (mPa·s): Specify concentration, temperature and shear. Desizability (Residual amount or grade): Use the actual wash procedure and fibre.
