Can iron chelates with different ligands share a pH window?

Total and chelated iron are distinct measures. Different chelating agents also have different useful pH ranges.

Check iron form against stock composition and pH

Verify the offered ligand and product data. Use the intended water and stock constituents at equal concentration and compare equilibrium clarity, filtration and the agreed available-iron measurement.

Does adequate total iron remove the need for a chelated-fraction result?

Check the basis and lot report separately for total, water-soluble and chelated iron. Iron sources for nutrient solutions: Record water alkalinity, pH and storage time. Compare clarity and retention of soluble iron. Changing chelating agents: Compare against DTPA or EDDHA grades at equal iron and the actual pH.

Checking Water-soluble iron and Chelated iron

Water-soluble iron (% by mass): Specify Fe²⁺, total Fe or water-soluble Fe. Sample and test using the corresponding method. Chelated iron (% by mass or % of element chelated): State whether the denominator is total product or water-soluble metal. Identify the ligand and selective analytical method. Effective pH range (pH range): Request use information for the specific grade and verify against actual water hardness and stock solution concentration.
