Does more total EDTA necessarily mean more chelated manganese?
Neither total manganese nor total EDTA directly measures chelated manganese. Other metals in a mixed stock must be included in the comparison.
Retain a manganese-only solution and the complete micronutrient stock
Compare the isolated manganese source with the mixture at the target concentration. Record pH, clarity and filtration. If results diverge, have the laboratory verify manganese form by a suitable method.
Can a blended micronutrient powder replace a single manganese source?
List accompanying iron, copper and zinc. Recalculate their contributions in the complete formulation. Multi-element nutrient solutions: After adding to the target formulation, record pH and clarity. Identify the chelating agent for each metal. Replacing manganese sulfate: At equal manganese, compare precipitation after mixing, sulfur contribution and long-term standing stability.
Checking Water-soluble manganese and Chelated manganese
Water-soluble manganese (% by mass): Report total Mn or water-soluble Mn, the elemental analysis method and the hydration state. Chelated manganese (% by mass or % of element chelated): State whether the denominator is total product or water-soluble metal. Identify the ligand and selective analytical method. Formulation compatibility (Turbidity or filter residue): Define water source, concentration, preparation order and observation time. Retain single-material and blended controls.
