Can zinc sulfate monohydrate and heptahydrate be exchanged at equal weight?

The hydrates deliver different zinc masses per kilogram. Check elemental zinc, as-received moisture and application grade. A shared salt name does not establish feed suitability.

Recalculate commercial quantity and impurity contribution from measured zinc

Use both lot assays to calculate the commercial mass needed for the same elemental contribution, then check impurities and weighing precision. Have the formulator review the revised finished-feed values.

Can the same substance in fertiliser grade be substituted?

Feed use requires a separate review of manufacturing, impurities and destination-market requirements. Elemental assay alone is insufficient. Trace mineral premixes: Add equal amounts of zinc to the target carrier. Sample several points for zinc and inspect for segregation. Changing hydrate forms: Confirm monohydrate, heptahydrate or other offered form. Calculate cost with the lot-specific zinc assay.

Checking Elemental zinc and Hydration state

Elemental zinc (% by mass): State whether the result is Zn, soluble Zn or salt content. Use the actual received lot for conversion. Hydration state (Identity and moisture (%)): Specify the precise hydrate and analytical basis. Apply limits for the relevant salt form only. Specified impurities (mg/kg): For the intended use and market, list each element, method and quantification limit. Request results for the stated batch.

What to record
