Retesting a ferrous lactate sample after a color change

Set up the comparison

Prepare the unopened and in-use ferrous lactate samples under identical conditions and record the delay before testing. Compare the specified tests before judging the practical effect of a colour change.

Measurements to record

Ferrous iron (% by mass). The published table separately lists total iron ≥18.9%. Distinguish the two results on receipt. Total iron (% by mass). Compare with ferrous iron on the same as-received basis and record the method. Record the sample ID and method revision for repeat testing.

Interpreting the results

Request the separate results and hydrate form. Calculate ferrous iron on the as-received basis before calculating its contribution per serving.
