Set up the comparison

Prepare the control and candidate in the same water and vessel at the same temperature, concentration and mixing time. Record appearance after standing.

Measurements to record

Bulk density (g/mL). Distinguish loose from tapped density and use the same graduated cylinder and procedure. Elemental content (mg/g as received). Specify the target element, digestion procedure and analytical method. Verify hydration state before converting from total salt mass. Record the sample ID and method revision for repeat testing.

Interpreting the results

Calculate the dose from measured magnesium before comparing different particle sizes or the volume the raw material occupies in the process.
