Calculating magnesium contribution when magnesium lactate moisture varies

Set up the comparison

Check whether magnesium is reported as received. For a dry-basis result, identify the water method and convert the weighed material to its contribution in the finished batch.

Measurements to record

Elemental magnesium (mg/g). Record water of crystallisation and sample drying conditions. Do not calculate from total salt mass alone. Moisture (% by mass). Specify the water test, sampling and sealing conditions. Interpret water content and loss on drying separately. Record the sample ID and method revision for repeat testing.

Interpreting the results

Match salt form, hydration and measured magnesium fraction before testing two sources at the same magnesium dose.
