Set up the comparison

Prepare stock solutions using the actual water, temperature and intended concentrations. Reproduce the planned mixing sequence and compare clarity immediately and after standing.

Measurements to record

Phosphate and potash nutrient content (Mass fraction). Distinguish oxide equivalents from elemental content. Use the COA for the grade actually offered. Water-insoluble matter (Mass fraction). Test a dilute, fully dissolved solution. Assess crystallisation in a cold saturated solution separately. Record the sample ID and method revision for repeat testing.

Interpreting the results

Check whether nutrients are stated as P₂O₅ and K₂O. Convert to the same elemental or oxide basis before comparing cost or formulation contributions.

What to record

  • Water quality
  • Temperature
  • Stock concentration
  • Mixing order
  • Results after standing
