Specifying salt form and elemental zinc assay in a zinc malate RFQ

Set up the comparison

Ask the supplier to identify the salt form, declaration basis and elemental zinc method in the same specification revision.

Measurements to record

Elemental zinc and salt composition (mg/g and composition declaration). Check the malate ligand and whether the product contains a carrier. Measure final product pH separately. pH of specified solution (Dimensionless). Specify solution concentration, water quality and measurement temperature. Record finished-food pH separately. Record the sample ID and method revision for repeat testing.

Interpreting the results

Do not estimate zinc from a trade name. Check composition and reporting basis before calculating an equivalent addition.
