Product family

In pigment printing, a binder forms a film on the fiber. Assess dry and wet crock fastness together with fabric handle.

01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Pigment printing on cotton

At equal pigment and dry binder addition, compare dry and wet rubbing fastness.

Printing on blends

Control baking conditions and film thickness. Inspect handle, wash resistance and cracking after stretching.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Use these properties to compare grades within the product family. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. Archroma HELIZARIN · Binder and film formation in pigment printing ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Nonvolatile content % by mass Agree for the grade and end use Use the specified drying procedure to verify dry-basis addition.
Viscosity mPa·s Agree for the grade and end use Specify temperature, spindle and sample condition.
Rubbing fastness Grade Agree for the grade and end use Use the same curing procedure and report dry and wet rubbing fastness separately.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

Confirm containers and manufacturer’s temperature range for aqueous dispersions. Check lot and seals.

Storage and handling

Request compatible pigments and the curing window with the shipment. Inspect for gel particles or irreversible separation after transport.

Sample and order lead times

State processing equipment, trial batch size and monthly demand. Confirm same-grade samples, first-order MOQ, staged deliveries and arrival date.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Why is wet rubbing fastness poor despite a good dry rub result?

Check film formation, dry pigment-to-binder ratio and actual cure temperature.

What if wash resistance improves but fabric handle stiffens?

Run a dry-basis dose series in one shade. Compare film thickness and softness before approving the sample.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Nonvolatile content, Viscosity, Rubbing fastness.
