When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
For liquid drums identify solvent system, net weight and remaining shelf life. Use the actual SDS for transport classification.
Storage and handling
Record dispatch and receipt temperatures. Check skinning and viscosity and retain a sealed sample.
Sample and order lead times
State processing equipment, trial batch size and monthly demand. Confirm same-grade samples, first-order MOQ, staged deliveries and arrival date.
Questions from the plant
Can long-oil and short-oil alkyds be substituted at equal solids?
Check drying mechanism, drier or crosslinking system and actual application performance.
Why can equal surface-dry times give different next-day hardness?
Follow through-drying and hardness development. Control thickness, ventilation and substrate.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Oil length, Acid value, Viscosity and solids content.
