Film-forming resins and curing / ENVO-A044

Epoxy resins

Product family

Evaluate epoxy resin with its curing agent. Epoxy equivalent weight, viscosity and form supplied affect mix ratio and application window.

01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Two-component primers

With the specified hardener and substrate, compare pot life, degree of cure and corrosion protection.

High-solids coatings

Keep pigments, fillers and temperature fixed. Compare application viscosity, leveling and residue.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Use these properties to compare grades within the product family. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. Aditya Birla YD 128 · Liquid epoxy resin technical data ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Epoxy equivalent weight g/eq Epotec YD 128 reference grade 185–194 g/eq This grade is reported to ASTM D1652. Determine the reporting basis separately for other forms.
Viscosity mPa·s Epotec YD 128 reference grade 11,000–14,000 mPa·s 25 °C. The source reports cP, numerically equivalent to mPa·s.
Nonvolatile matter % by mass Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification Applies to a solution or dispersion. Distinguish it from neat resin.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

Distinguish liquid, solid and solution resins. Check the packaging of resin and hardener separately.

Storage and handling

After cold-related crystallisation or viscosity change, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for handling and retesting before accepting equivalence.

Sample and order lead times

State processing equipment, trial batch size and monthly demand. Confirm same-grade samples, first-order MOQ, staged deliveries and arrival date.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Can the same hardener dose be used when epoxy equivalent weights are close?

Check hardener active hydrogen equivalent weight, solids and actual mix ratio. Verify the resulting state of cure.

Why do equal-viscosity resins give different working times?

Compare resin structure, hardener, ambient temperature and mixed batch size.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Epoxy equivalent weight, Viscosity, Nonvolatile matter.
