Preservation testing in acidic systems
At target temperature and pH, assess dissolution, crystallization on cooling and finished performance.
Hot dissolution and cooling
Cool the actual formulation from hot preparation to its lowest storage temperature. Record time to crystallization and solution concentration.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. ENVO · Benzoic Acid product information ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Melting range | °C | ENVO published specification 121.5–123.5 | Check free-acid identity and the analytical method. Assess dissolution and distribution in the intended application separately. |
| Dissolution or dispersion behavior | min or % residue | Verify under the approved sample conditions | Fix addition rate, water composition, agitation, temperature and standing time. Compare residue and precipitate. |
| Substance identification | Qualitative | Request identification results relevant to the intended use. | Verify the recognised chemical name, salt form and item code. The report must correspond to the lot received. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
Chemical identity
| Database entry | Molecular or composition formula | Molar mass |
|---|---|---|
| Benzoic Acid | C7H6O2 | 122.12 g/mol |
The values refer to the compound indicated. Confirm hydrate form, solution concentration and blend composition for the commercial grade.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
ENVO lists 25 kg bags. Confirm order-specific net weight, units per pallet and label revision.
Storage and handling
Clearly identify free acid rather than sodium salt on the pack. Check sieve and dissolution behaviour separately for caked lots.
Sample and order lead times
State food category, sales market, pilot quantity and required arrival date. Confirm MOQ, batch documents, availability and remaining shelf life separately for samples and commercial orders.
Questions from the plant
What if crystals remain or local concentrations vary after addition?
Check dissolution, crystallisation on cooling and finished performance at target pH and temperature.
Are equal weights of benzoic acid and sodium benzoate equivalent?
Calculate acid equivalents separately and verify dissolution, pH, market requirements and finished-product performance.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check chemical form, Particle size, effective dissolution conditions.
Request documents for your application
TDS · Technical data sheet
For grade selection and sample approval, specify the grade and revision required.
SDS · Safety data sheet
Specify the country or region of use and the required language.
COA · Certificate of analysis
Request a sample COA during supplier review. For incoming inspection, provide the actual lot number.
