Fillers for plastics
At the same resin and filler loading, measure melt flow, stiffness and surface defects.
Fillers for adhesives and sealants
At equal solids, compare mixing viscosity, extrudability, settling and cured appearance.
| Form or grade | Suitability and verification |
|---|---|
| Ground calcium carbonate (GCC) | Grinding and classification determine particle grading. Check top-cut size, particle shape and mineral-source color. |
| Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) | Precipitation and crystal growth are controlled. Compare crystal morphology, oil absorption and dispersion. |
| Surface modification | Both routes may have coated grades. Compare compatibility with the base formulation. |
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. ENVO · Calcium Carbonate catalogue and specifications ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calcium carbonate content | % by mass | ENVO YH-P published value ≥98.5 | Applies only to the cited grade. Match the measurement basis and set a separate upper limit on coarse particles. |
| Volatile matter | % by mass | ENVO YH-P ≤0.3 | Measure at 105 °C and specify the test duration. |
| Hydrochloric acid insolubles | % by mass | ENVO YH-P ≤0.07 | Request the test portion mass, digestion procedure and filtration method. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
Chemical identity
| Database entry | Molecular or composition formula | Molar mass |
|---|---|---|
| Calcium Carbonate | CCaO3 | 100.09 g/mol |
The values refer to the compound indicated. Confirm hydrate form, solution concentration and blend composition for the commercial grade.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
Identify ground or precipitated calcium carbonate, surface treatment and size grade. Similar outer bags must carry distinguishable grade markings.
Storage and handling
State bag and pallet net weights. Check for damp lumps and coarse particles and keep sieve residue for traceability.
Sample and order lead times
Specify colour code, surface treatment or filler grade and whether a single lot is required. Confirm trial quantity, MOQ, retention across lots and arrival.
Questions from the plant
Why did a lower-cost filler change gloss, flow or impact behaviour?
Compare dispersion, viscosity and final surface at the same filler volume fraction.
Why does processing viscosity differ at equal assay?
Compare particle-size distribution, oil absorption and surface treatment. Retest blend viscosity with unfilled resin as the control.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check D50 and top-cut size, Oil absorption, Surface treatment.
