01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Latex paint thickening

Prepare samples in the same latex with controlled shear and hydration time. Measure low-shear viscosity and application leveling separately.

Waterborne dispersion

Use the site’s feeding and mixing equipment. Record the time required for a particle-free dispersion.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. ENVO · Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC) catalogue and specifications ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Apparent density g/mL ENVO reference range: 0.35–0.61. Specify loose or tapped density and the filling procedure. Confirm the viscosity grade separately.
Solution viscosity mPa·s Agree for the target HEC grade. Record solution concentration, water temperature, spindle and rotational speed.
Time to complete dispersion min Confirm at actual feeding conditions. Fix mixing, solution pH and order of addition. Check for visible lumps and a stable viscosity.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

Published net weight is 25 kg per bag. Require a clearly marked viscosity grade and check for moisture-related lumps.

Storage and handling

Retain an unopened sample identified by lot. Record concentration and water temperature used in the supplier’s viscosity method.

Sample and order lead times

State processing equipment, trial batch size and monthly demand. Confirm same-grade samples, first-order MOQ, staged deliveries and arrival date.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

What causes initial lumps or a lower final viscosity?

Record powder dispersion, hydration time and test temperature. Compare viscosity only after stabilisation.

Why does a paint sag on vertical surfaces despite an acceptable bench viscosity?

Test sag and levelling at the same film thickness. Check viscometer speed and rest time before the reading.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check viscosity test concentration, substitution characteristics, Surface treatment.
