01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Concrete coloration

Fix cement type, water-to-cement ratio and curing time. Measure dry color difference and keep a reference block.

Coating color matching

Prepare panels with the same white base and pigment-paste concentration. Compare tinting strength, undertone and lot-to-lot variation.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. ENVO · Iron Oxide Pigments catalogue and specifications ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Oil absorption mL/100 g ENVO published examples: red 15–25, yellow 25–35. Applies to the stated pigment class. Agree oil type, endpoint and specific colour grade at sample approval.
Water-soluble salts % by mass ENVO published red, yellow grades ≤0.3 Use the specified colour grade and state the extraction conditions.
Water content % by mass ENVO red, yellow grades ≤1.0 Compare using the same drying method. Record cement-formulation additions on the same basis.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

The catalogue lists 25 kg plastic-lined outer bags. Segregate and count pallets by colour and check for pigment transfer or torn bags.

Storage and handling

Before dispatch obtain the lot number linked to the approved colour standard. Agree the measurement illuminant and viewing angle.

Sample and order lead times

Specify colour code, surface treatment or filler grade and whether a single lot is required. Confirm trial quantity, MOQ, retention across lots and arrival.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Why does an iron oxide shade shift in concrete or a coating?

Retain the sample formulation and dose. Compare dried samples under the same lighting.

Why does a single red iron oxide lot give uneven colour?

Check substrate colour, water addition and curing separately. Prepare samples at the same pigment loading and layer thickness.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check standard color sample, Tinting strength, particle size and soluble salts.
