01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Oil-in-water emulsification

At the same oil phase and homogenization conditions, compare droplet distribution and separation during storage.

Instant powdered mixes

Compare wetting time, floating powder and sediment after reconstitution.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Use these properties to compare grades within the product family. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. Sternchemie · Standard, deoiled and application-specific lecithins ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Acetone insolubles % by mass Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification Report for the actual product form. The result does not establish the content of any individual phospholipid.
Viscosity or particle size mPa·s or µm Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification For liquids, state temperature. For powders, state the sieving method.
Source and allergens Document review Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification Check the source, such as soya or sunflower, and the manufacturer’s declaration.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

For liquid specify drum material and pumping conditions. For deoiled powder confirm moisture barrier and expected consumption per opened bag.

Storage and handling

Record opening date and odour. Confirm refrigerated or ambient storage against grade instructions.

Sample and order lead times

State food category, sales market, pilot quantity and required arrival date. Confirm MOQ, batch documents, availability and remaining shelf life separately for samples and commercial orders.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Can deoiled granules replace liquid lecithin at equal product weight?

Correct for active components and oil introduced into the recipe. Retest wetting and stability.

Does a source change require a label review even if the assay passes?

Recheck labelling against actual origin, allergens and rules for the sales market.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Acetone insolubles, Viscosity or particle size, Source and allergens.
