High-fiber bulking formulations
Hold total solids constant. Evaluate each grade by finished sensory properties and color after storage.
Beverage acidity and color
Prepare samples at equal polydextrose content. Record pH, clarity and color after heating, distinguishing neutralized from unneutralized grades.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. European Commission · Food additive specifications by substance ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solution pH | Dimensionless | Request the range for the relevant grade. | State solution concentration and temperature and distinguish native from neutralised forms. |
| Residual sugar profile | % on a dry basis | List individual monosaccharides and disaccharides. | Confirm the components measured and the peak integration method. Relate the result to the moisture of the goods received. |
| Color stability | Color difference or color value | Agree the comparison conditions with the retained sample. | Use the actual contact medium, packaging and thermal history to distinguish inherent colour from changes during processing. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
Request photographs of the proposed inner bag or container, unit weight and closure. Match the lot on the inner and outer packs.
Storage and handling
State neutralisation status or grade on the inner pack. Confirm solids, container and net weight separately for powder and liquid.
Sample and order lead times
State food category, sales market, pilot quantity and required arrival date. Confirm MOQ, batch documents, availability and remaining shelf life separately for samples and commercial orders.
Questions from the plant
Why did adding fibre alter acidity or colour?
Keep total solids constant and select the grade by final sensory performance and colour after storage.
At equal solids, do residual polyols still matter?
Review residual sorbitol, glucose and polymer fraction separately. Compare sweetness, colour and fibre contribution.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check polydextrose content, residual monomers and polyols, pH.
