Fiber beverage formulation
At equal oligosaccharide content, test dissolution, flavor and stability to acid and heat in the target application.
Active content in sachet powders
At equal xylo-oligosaccharide addition, compare reconstitution speed, clarity and cost per unit of active component.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. U.S. FDA · Xylo-oligosaccharides and intended uses in GRN 458 ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xylo-oligosaccharide composition | % on a dry basis | Request the reported degree-of-polymerization range. | Identify xylobiose, xylotriose and other included components. List xylose and any carrier separately. |
| Total solids | % by mass | Request an as-received measurement | Record sampling temperature and analytical method. Verify any conversion from refractometer readings. |
| Residual sugar profile | % on a dry basis | List individual monosaccharides and disaccharides. | Confirm the components measured and the peak integration method. Relate the result to the moisture of the goods received. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
Request photographs of the proposed inner bag or container, unit weight and closure. Match the lot on the inner and outer packs.
Storage and handling
Confirm carrier, solids and net weight for the powder or liquid. Request origin information and lot chromatography.
Sample and order lead times
State food category, sales market, pilot quantity and required arrival date. Confirm MOQ, batch documents, availability and remaining shelf life separately for samples and commercial orders.
Questions from the plant
Why do nominally similar products deliver different oligosaccharide quantities?
Test dissolution, flavour and stability under acid and heat at equal oligosaccharide addition.
Why is declared XOS content insufficient to compare prices?
Align the degree-of-polymerisation range covered by the assay and the dry-matter basis. Then calculate cost per unit of active material.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check XOS composition and method, carrier or monosaccharides, Total solids.
Request documents for your application
TDS · Technical data sheet
For grade selection and sample approval, specify the grade and revision required.
SDS · Safety data sheet
Specify the country or region of use and the required language.
COA · Certificate of analysis
Request a sample COA during supplier review. For incoming inspection, provide the actual lot number.
