Moisturizing formulations
Hold total formulation water and dry polyol constant. Compare moisture retention and crystallization in the finished product.
Liquid polyol transfer
At the intended plant temperature, record flow, pumpability and weighing error. Recalculate batch size from measured solids.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. ENVO · Sorbitol product information ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sorbitol assay | % on a dry basis | ENVO published crystalline powder: 99.0–101.0. | The published method is titration. For liquids, also request polyol content on a dry basis and the solids content of the solution. |
| Total solids | % by mass | Request an as-received measurement | Record sampling temperature and analytical method. Verify any conversion from refractometer readings. |
| Composition and impurities | % by mass | Request the actual component distribution | List the principal components and methods used. Specify how unidentified peaks and impurities are reported. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
Chemical identity
| Database entry | Molecular or composition formula | Molar mass |

| Sorbitol | C6H14O6 | 182.17 g/mol |
The values refer to the compound indicated. Confirm hydrate form, solution concentration and blend composition for the commercial grade.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
For liquid, confirm unloading temperature, container and return arrangements. For powder, confirm pallet load and inner bag.
Storage and handling
The catalogue lists 25 kg bags of powder and 70% solution in plastic drums. Confirm each form separately.
Sample and order lead times
State food category, sales market, pilot quantity and required arrival date. Confirm MOQ, batch documents, availability and remaining shelf life separately for samples and commercial orders.
Questions from the plant
Why did drum-based dosing change water activity or viscosity?
Keep total recipe water and dry polyol constant. Compare moisture retention and crystallisation in the finished product.
How can batches with different solids deliver the same final moisture?
Use actual net weight to calculate polyol and water contributions separately. Verify with final moisture or water activity.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Sorbitol assay, solution solids, Other polyols.
