01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Steel pretreatment before coating

On actual steel panels, evaluate coating weight, crystal structure and paint adhesion.

Continuous production lines

Record treated area, replenisher consumption, bath sludge and bath-analysis trends.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Use these properties to compare grades within the product family. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. Henkel BONDERITE M-ZN 20 · Zinc phosphating technical data ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Coating weight g/m² Agree for the grade and end use Agree the substrate and measurement method.
Total and free acid Titration points Agree for the grade and end use State the sample volume, titrant concentration and endpoint.
Corrosion resistance after painting Project method Agree for the grade and end use Assess at the specified paint film thickness using the agreed scribe criteria.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

Identify bath make-up and replenishment products and their lots separately. Inspect by component and net weight.

Storage and handling

Verify bath-analysis support and chemical compatibility. Review transport against the SDS for each component.

Sample and order lead times

State the concentration or hydrate, initial net quantity, destination and unloading method. Confirm minimum order, pallet or truckload quantity, dispatch point and arrival date separately.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Why is paint adhesion poor despite adequate phosphate coating weight?

Check degreasing, rinsing, conditioning, crystal formation and final coating cure.

Why have bath costs increased?

Track net consumption, replenishment, sludge and bath replacement frequency per unit area treated.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Coating weight, Total and free acid, Corrosion resistance after painting.
