Textile pretreatment
Compare impurity removal and subsequent dyeing at equal active alkali addition. Review iron and salt impurities.
Industrial cleaning and blending
Check metering separately for solid and liquid caustic. Evaluate continuous feeding and cleaning on the installed equipment.
| Form or grade | Suitability and verification |
|---|---|
| Solid caustic flakes or beads | Confirm particle form, moisture protection, feeding and dissolution equipment. |
| Liquid caustic | Confirm mass fraction, tanker arrangements, storage tank and delivery temperature. |
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. ENVO public product information · Verify against the ordered grade and lot ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| NaOH assay | Mass fraction | published bead grade, flakes also ≥99.0% | Applies to the specified solid only. Verify the actual concentration and reporting basis for liquid caustic soda. |
| Carbonate (as Na₂CO₃) | Mass fraction | ENVO published bead grade ≤0.5%, flakes ≤0.9% | Distinguish a sample exposed to moisture after opening from one in an unopened original pack. |
| Sodium chloride | Mass fraction | ENVO published bead grade ≤0.03%, flakes ≤0.15% | Specify the solid form and check acceptance against the report for that lot. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
Chemical identity
| Database entry | Molecular or composition formula | Molar mass |
|---|---|---|
| Sodium Hydroxide | HNaO | 39.997 g/mol |
The values refer to the compound indicated. Confirm hydrate form, solution concentration and blend composition for the commercial grade.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
ENVO’s bead and flake caustic soda listings specify 25 kg bags. Confirm concentration, container and receiving facilities separately for liquid caustic.
Storage and handling
Inspect seals and moisture exposure. Follow the concentration-specific SDS and receiving procedures for unloading and segregating liquid caustic.
Sample and order lead times
State the concentration or hydrate, initial net quantity, destination and unloading method. Confirm minimum order, pallet or truckload quantity, dispatch point and arrival date separately.
Questions from the plant
How should we compare solid and liquid caustic soda prices?
Calculate active alkali, freight and storage requirements separately. Assess unloading against the relevant SDS.
Can beads and flakes of the same nominal strength be compared by tonne price alone?
Check chloride and carbonate limits and feeder compatibility. Account for freight and unpacking losses for each form.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check sodium hydroxide mass fraction, carbonate, Form supplied.
