Shelf-life trials in acidic foods
Have the quality team confirm locally permitted use. Conduct microbial challenge and shelf-life tests on the finished food.
Granule and powder feeding
Hold liquid temperature, agitation and pH constant. Record time to complete dissolution and check for local precipitation.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. ENVO · Sodium Benzoate product information ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assay | % by mass | ENVO published specification ≥99% | Identify the salt and whether the result is on a dry basis before calculating the required quantity in the finished product. |
| Particle size distribution | µm or % sieve residue | Specify for the feed system | State sieve opening and percentage passing. For fine or agglomerated material, specify dispersion and sieving procedures. |
| Microbiological and retained sample testing | CFU/g or agreed test plan | Agree for the product grade | Keep raw-material microbiology and finished-product shelf-life verification separate. Specify samples, methods and incubation conditions. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
Chemical identity
| Database entry | Molecular or composition formula | Molar mass |
|---|---|---|
| Sodium Benzoate | C7H5NaO2 | 144.10 g/mol |
The values refer to the compound indicated. Confirm hydrate form, solution concentration and blend composition for the commercial grade.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
ENVO lists 25 kg bags. Confirm order-specific net weight, units per pallet and label revision.
Storage and handling
File the market-approved use and lot number. Confirm unloading and dissolution separately for powder and extruded granules.
Sample and order lead times
State food category, sales market, pilot quantity and required arrival date. Confirm MOQ, batch documents, availability and remaining shelf life separately for samples and commercial orders.

The reference label identifies sodium benzoate and lists net and gross weight separately.
Questions from the plant
Can shelf life be inferred from preservative assay alone?
Have quality staff confirm permitted use in the market and perform appropriate microbiological challenge and shelf-life tests on the finished product.
Does a new heat treatment invalidate the old shelf-life evidence?
Revalidate for the new process, package, pH and storage conditions. Retain challenge-test and control data.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check salt content, Particle size, target finished-product pH.
Request documents for your application
