Does surface discoloration establish failure of the whole lot?

A changed surface warrants further inspection. State the hydrate form and sampling location before testing the actual ferrous iron contribution.

Retain surface and interior samples separately

Sample the surface and interior, then make a representative composite. Test ferrous iron, total iron and insoluble matter under the same conditions. Confirm treatment performance using a common water sample.

Can a ferric salt replacement dose be based directly on effective iron?

Check how ferrous iron oxidises in this process. Trial actual influent and compare residual iron. Chemical phosphorus removal: On the same effluent, evaluate soluble phosphorus, sludge volume and residual iron. Industrial water conditioning: Compare feedwater pH, dissolution behavior and settling after treatment.

Checking Ferrous iron and Hydration state

Ferrous iron (% by mass): Express as Fe²⁺. Total iron does not establish ferrous iron content. Hydration state (Chemical formula): Identify the actual commercial form, such as monohydrate or heptahydrate. Insoluble matter (% by mass): Specify dissolution and filtration methods. Apply the residue tolerance of the equipment.

What to record
