Trial design and interpretation

Confirm the residue load that the site’s dosing and filtration equipment can tolerate. Report available chlorine and insoluble matter separately. Qualified personnel should evaluate use under site procedures. Include filter maintenance costs when comparing prices.

Recording Available chlorine

Available chlorine (Mass fraction): published grades ≥65% or ≥70%. Specify the acceptance basis at delivery and the time of sampling. Insoluble matter (Mass fraction): ENVO published 70% grade ≤5%, 65% grade ≤9%. Compare like available-chlorine grades and confirm the current test method.

Should insolubles be limited even when available chlorine passes?

Check the equipment’s residue tolerance, filtration and maintenance interval. Evaluate a same-lot sample under customer-approved conditions. Water treatment feeding equipment: Within the approved system, compare granule feeding compatibility, available chlorine retention and residue.

What to record

  • Available chlorine
  • Insoluble matter method
  • Filtration conditions
  • Cleaning frequency
