Trial design and interpretation

Agree low-temperature tests before and after aging on the same specimen and record temperature, duration and thickness. If a freshly prepared specimen passes but hardens after aging, check both weight loss and flexibility change.

Recording Density at 20 °C

Density at 20 °C (g/cm³): ENVO published specification 0.913–0.919. Test at the same temperature and verify against ester composition and the supplier’s COA. Mass loss on heating (% by mass): ENVO published value ≤0.2. Two hours at 125 °C. Use the same test portion mass and container.

Can a part that passes initial cold bending harden after ageing?

Heat-age the same specimen as agreed, then repeat cold bending and measure weight loss to distinguish initial performance from durability. Low-temperature cable jackets: Use the current resin and test bending, impact and cracking at the intended service temperature.

What to record

  • Specimen thickness
  • Aging conditions
  • Mass change
  • Cold-bend result
