Trial design and interpretation

Active mass per cubic metre equals density at the agreed temperature (kg/m³) multiplied by active mass fraction. Take both values from the same specification, then divide the delivered price per cubic metre by that active mass.

Recording NaClO₂ content

NaClO₂ content (Mass fraction): published solution grades ≥25.0% or ≥31.0%. Specify the concentration purchased. Solid product specifications do not apply. Sodium chlorate (Mass fraction): ENVO published 25%/31% solution ≤1.5%. Express as NaClO₃ on an as-received solution basis.

How can a price per cubic metre be compared with a tonne price?

Obtain solution density at a stated temperature and mass fraction. Convert both offers to delivered cost per kilogram of NaClO₂. Industrial water treatment: Verify NaClO₂ mass fraction and chlorate impurities in solution. Review the intended use and receiver qualifications.

What to record

  • Corresponding temperature
  • Density
