01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Lime softening

Track raw-water alkalinity, treated-water hardness and sludge settling.

Wastewater pH control

At a fixed endpoint, compare reaction response, slurry handling and residue.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Review these properties when selecting and inspecting incoming material. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. NHMRC · Hydrated lime in water treatment ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Available calcium hydroxide % by mass Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification State whether the result is expressed as Ca(OH)₂ or as CaO equivalent.
Sieve residue % Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification Specify sieve aperture to match the particle-size limits of pumps and lines.
Slurry solids % by mass Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification For slurry deliveries only. Record homogenisation before sampling.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

For powder, check the liner and dust-controlled receiving facilities. Agree container and unloading equipment separately for slurry.

Storage and handling

If caking develops in storage, retain an original pack sample and check moisture exposure, available alkalinity and sieve residue.

Sample and order lead times

State the concentration or hydrate, initial net quantity, destination and unloading method. Confirm minimum order, pallet or truckload quantity, dispatch point and arrival date separately.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Is “lime” sufficient on a purchase order?

Specify hydrated lime, commercial form and active basis to prevent confusion with quicklime.

What if the assay passes but the pump still blocks?

Compare as-received sieve residue and site slurry dispersion. Check pump suction limits and residence time.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Available calcium hydroxide, Sieve residue, Slurry solids.
