Flexible PVC calendering
At the same formulation and processing conditions, compare fusion time, calendered finish and hardness after aging.
PVC plastisols
Use the same paste resin. Measure initial and aged viscosity and record pouring or coating behavior.
Purchase specifications and incoming inspection
Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. Eastman · Eastman 168 plasticizer technical data ↗
| Property | Unit | Published or agreed specification | Test conditions and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Viscosity at 25 °C | mPa·s | Eastman 168 third-party typical value 66 | State temperature and viscosity method. Third-party data are for comparison only. |
| Relative density | Dimensionless | Eastman 168 third-party typical value 0.984 | Relative to water at 20/20 °C. Do not treat this as measured density at another temperature. |
| Refractive index | Dimensionless | Eastman 168 third-party typical value 1.488 | Measure at 25 °C and state the wavelength. |
When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.
Chemical identity
| Database entry | Molecular or composition formula | Molar mass |
|---|---|---|
| Di-(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate | C24H38O4 | 390.6 g/mol |
The values refer to the compound indicated. Confirm hydrate form, solution concentration and blend composition for the commercial grade.
From samples to commercial delivery
Packaging and receiving
For drums or bulk liquid, check previous cargo and cleanliness to prevent mixing with an ortho-phthalate.
Storage and handling
Keep a sealed sample. Request the principal ester identity and the method used to detect other plasticisers.
Sample and order lead times
State the finished part, machine trial quantity and routine order size. Match trial and commercial grades and agree MOQ, load unit, lead-time start and arrival.

Questions from the plant
Will replacing DOP with DOTP retain fusion rate and final hardness?
Fix PVC grade and formulation. Compare the fusion curve, tensile behaviour and migration.
Why might extrusion temperature need adjustment at equal plasticiser addition?
Compare solvation rate, resin particle size and shear. Repeat the torque curve using the actual resin.
Report a delivery or batch issue
Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check structural identity, Acid value, Loss on heating.
Request documents for your application
