Coagulation and flocculation / ENVO-L1893

Polyacrylamide (PAM)

CAS 9003-05-8 (homopolymer; verify ionic copolymers separately)

Polyacrylamide grades differ in ionic character, molecular weight range and powder or emulsion form.

Procurement briefENVO Published product information
Form and application
Choose an anionic, cationic or nonionic grade for the sludge or raw water.
Key specifications
Compare ionic character, solids content and dissolution. Test different charge types separately.
Packaging and receipt
ENVO lists 25 kg lined bags or PE bags. Check bag opening and moisture protection at the plant.
Before requesting a sample
Identify the sludge source, dewatering equipment and current treatment conditions. Compare cake moisture and filtrate clarity.

01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Sludge dewatering

Use the same sludge batch to compare filtrate clarity, cake moisture and release from the filter cloth. Record ionic character and charge density.

Mineral washing and solid-liquid separation

At equal solids, particle size and mixing conditions, compare settling rate, supernatant turbidity and floc shear resistance.

Form or grade Suitability and verification
Anionic, cationic or nonionic Select by water or sludge charge and the desired separation, then validate in the actual application.
Dry powder or emulsion Compare active content, dissolution or inversion requirements, storage and dosing equipment separately.
02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Include the intended grade or current specification in the enquiry. Use the table to compare selection criteria and inspection conditions. The specification agreed by both parties defines the contractual limits. ENVO public product information · Verify against the ordered grade and lot ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Solids content Mass fraction ENVO published cationic granule specification ≥88.5% Use the specified cationic grade. Do not apply its figures to emulsions or other ionic types.
Ionic character and charge density Type and agreed units Report separately for cationic, anionic and nonionic grades. Ask for the test basis and the units used to express charge density.
Insoluble matter Mass fraction ENVO published cationic granule specification ≤0.2% Confirm solution concentration, temperature, mixing and time to dissolve.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

ENVO’s granular grade is listed in 25 kg lined or PE bags. Confirm carrier, container and equipment compatibility separately for emulsions.

Storage and handling

Confirm shelf life and storage conditions. Record actual dissolution behaviour after moisture-related caking or changes in sample preparation.

Sample and order lead times

State treatment scale, trial quantity and acceptable packaging. Request minimum quantities, preparation times and arrival dates for lab samples, pilot lots and routine replenishment.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Why do flocs break up or dewatering cloths blind?

Run parallel trials on the same sludge. Record filtrate clarity, cake moisture and shear conditions.

Why can PAM grades of similar molecular weight dewater differently?

Compare ionic type, charge density and sludge characteristics after the same maturation and shear history.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check ionic character, charge density, Form supplied.
