01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Conventional vulcanization

Use one formulation to compare scorch, cure curves and crosslinking in the finished article.

Bloom prevention

After specified holding and thermal history, inspect the uncured compound and finished-part surface.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Review these properties for the intended application grade. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. LANXESS · Materials for rubber cure systems ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Total sulfur % by mass Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification Use the as-received product basis and distinguish oil from carrier.
Insoluble sulfur fraction % by mass Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification State whether the denominator is commercial product or total sulphur, and specify the test method.
Particle size or carrier form µm or morphology Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification Match the dispersion process and dust-control conditions.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

Specify powder, oil-treated or predispersed grade. Check packaging and transport against its SDS.

Storage and handling

Record manufacture date and heat exposure on receipt. Retest insoluble sulfur by the specified grade method.

Sample and order lead times

State the finished part, machine trial quantity and routine order size. Match trial and commercial grades and agree MOQ, load unit, lead-time start and arrival.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Why can rubber sheets with equal total sulphur bloom differently in storage?

Compare insoluble sulphur fraction, standing time and temperature history.

Can predispersed masterbatch be dosed at the same weight as sulphur powder?

Convert to effective sulphur first and assess the carrier’s contribution to the recipe.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Total sulfur, Insoluble sulfur fraction, Particle size or carrier form.
