01 / Applications and trials

Plan a trial for your application

Vulcanization activation

Hold fatty acid and accelerator system fixed. Compare cure rate, scorch and mechanical properties.

Light-colored rubber compounds

Compare dispersion, color and appearance after aging.

02 / Quality and acceptance

Purchase specifications and incoming inspection

Review these properties for the intended application grade. Example figures refer to the cited grade or source. Confirm the offered specification, packaging and lead time in the quotation. ASTM D4295 · Zinc oxide classification for rubber ↗

Property Unit Published or agreed specification Test conditions and checks
Zinc oxide assay % by mass Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification Specify whether the result is expressed as ZnO or elemental Zn.
Specific surface area m²/g Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification Specify the method, sample pretreatment and activity grade.
Lead and other metallic impurities mg/kg Confirm against the offered grade and purchase specification Agree limits for individual elements for the intended application.

When approving a sample, record the grade, methods, limits and specification revision. On receipt, match the packing lot number to the lot-specific COA and record the measured values and release decision.

03 / Packaging and delivery

From samples to commercial delivery

Packaging and receiving

Mark treatment and net weight on powder or granule bags. Segregate different activity grades.

Storage and handling

After moisture uptake or variable dispersion, compare material from the original pack with the rubber compound.

Sample and order lead times

State the finished part, machine trial quantity and routine order size. Match trial and commercial grades and agree MOQ, load unit, lead-time start and arrival.

04 / Troubleshooting

Questions from the plant

Does higher assay necessarily give higher cure activity?

Compare surface area, dispersion and cure curves in one formulation.

Can active zinc oxide replace conventional zinc oxide weight for weight?

Start with effective zinc and establish a usable range through rubber-compound trials.

Report a delivery or batch issue

Include the order number, lot number from the package, label photos and inspection records for the affected lot. When retesting, check Zinc oxide assay, Specific surface area, Lead and other metallic impurities.
